WHAT IS Letterpress

Letterpress is an age tested technique that is comparable to a printing press. Ink is pressed onto the surface of the card using a metal plate that made unique for each order. One by one the colors are pressed onto the card to create a clear, indented look that is both high-end and classic. Letterpress can only produce block colors. For gradient printing, please consider a combination of offset printing and deboss. The recommended stock for letterpress is our Rock Classic white or cream cardstock. The rock classic stock has a higher density which reduces the risk of impression marks showing through to the other side. Letterpress is a unique and highly customized process that is an excellent addition to most designs.

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS

● Letterpress is only available for block colors and cannot print with gradients
● Slight pressure markings may result on the other side of the card
● Letterpress is not ideal for designs with fine details or that have less than a 2mm buffer zone between the letter pressed areas
● There may be slight alignment variation between multiple letterpress colors in close proximity to one another.
● There may be slight alignment variation between letterpress and other print elements such as foil stamping and offset printing.
● Letterpress is only available on our light colored stocks.
