If any print feature is intended to be applied right to the very edge of the cards, this is considered a full-bleed design. Typically, this will require that print feature technique to be performed prior to trimming the cards to ensure proper execution of the design and alignment. Full-bleed designs may also require oversized plates or incur other surcharges - this depends on the specific cardstock as well as the print feature used. Moreover, not all printing techniques or print feature combinations can be made full-bleed, and may require a small border be left around the very edge. Full-bleed designs are a very elegant way to enhance your card, and by having elements extend to the very edges of the card it allows for more space to be used in the design.
