WHAT IS Spot Color
Spot color is a specialized type of printing with which we can apply solid, brilliant color to our metal, carbon fibre, and printed acrylic cards. On metal, spot color can be applied either within an etched recess or on an un-etched surface. Spot color is the ideal way to incorporate your branding colors into your unique card design and can be color matched by using Pantone Solid Coated reference codes. Spot color can be applied full-bleed to color an entire side of a card, and can be printed in layers on top of eachother in most cases! We recommend using spot color for contact information, especially on a dark card material to increase legibility. Metallic gold and silver spot colors are available! Spot color is also available for use as variable data! Spot colors are charged per side as well as per color.
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
● On metal, spot color is best when combined with etching since the recess of the etching will help protect the spot color from physical damage.
● Multiple spot colors can be used in close proximity to one another, even on top of one another in most cases. However on metal, if etched, individual spot colors must be separated by an un-etched border of metal material.
● Spot color cannot produce gradients or photographs.
● RockDesign does not guarantee a 100% color match but will use Pantone Solid Coated color codes as reference.
● Spot color may not be able to produce highly fine and detailed designs. Please email our sales team if you would like your design assessed for feasibility.
● Spot color has a satin finish. We also have two metallic spot colors available: gold and silver.
