WHAT IS Brushed Finishing
Brushed finishing is one of three surface finishing options we offer for our stainless steel, gold, and rose gold metals, and the only finishing available for our gunmetal, copper, and brushed black metals. The result of brushed finishing is a subtle linear pattern on the un-etched surface of the card. This finishing is uniquely applied, using a brush to mark a pattern onto each individual card. Within each brush stroke is a dynamic combination of a variety of tones of metal. Brushed finishing is less likely to show fingerprints or scratching than our mirror and original finishings. Because of this it is ideal for designs with large un-etched areas.
DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
● Brushed finishing is an ideal option for designs that have large surface areas of un-etched material, as it has a higher resistance to scratches than our mirror or original finishings.
● Please keep in mind that the brushed finish does not create a three-dimensional look, but rather provides a variety of shades across the metal surface. Because each card is individually brushed, there may be variation from card to card.
● The brushed strokes of the finishing will always run along the longer side of the card; the direction cannot be customized.
● Any etching will remove the brushed finishing from the metal, leaving a matte appearance to contrast the surfaces.
● We do not recommend laser engraving metals with brushed finishing, notably fine details, as the strokes of the finish can make the edges of the laser engraved areas appear less sharp.
